Spiced Pears in Red Wine

Ingredients

6-8 pears, peeled, cored and cut lengthwise

2 cups dry red wine

1/2 cup castor sugar

1 cinnamon stick

5 whole cloves

Zest of an orange

Method

Place pears in Scrock pot. Add wine - enough to cover the pears, sugar, cinnamon, cloves and orange zest. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours until pears are tender. 

Can be served either warm or chilled with vanilla ice-cream and thick cream.
